DIGITAL IMAGING OF ACCIDENTS AND CRIME SCENES

Using a 3D laser scanner or a drone, a traffic accident or a crime scene can be visualised, virtually and in detail. Subsequently, these images can enable us to accurately measure all the elements, and can serve as a basis for making a sketch of the accident, or a virtual image of the crime scene. Philip Temmerman (Vias Institute) will provide an insight into: how crash investigation can be carried out using the integration of 3D laser scanning and the integration of drone images. Patrice De Mets, Director of operational support services for the FGP [“Federal Criminal Investigation Department”] East Flanders, will share her experiences on the use of imaging for digital processing methods.
